Sewing: Punk Monkey Garbo

Finished this guy off last night.  He is the larger version of punk monkeys like Perry and Pinkerton but just as adorable.  Someone already has their eye on him.

Tangy!

Give it up for the guy in stripes!

I sell these larger ones for $30.  They can be personalized for an additional $5.  A bow tie, pockets,  belt, hair, pendant...even the first letter of a name.
The smaller ones, like Perry, go for $25 and can be personalized for an additional $5.

Shipping & Handle is $6.

Running: No slacker.

I didn't slack while I was on vacay.
I ran.  I Body Pumped.  I ran.  I yoga-ed.
So proud of myself.  Before I left, I contacted my gym and made sure that I could commute my membership to Cali.  It worked!  My schedule was slam packed but I managed to work out five or so times while I was out there.  Their Body Pump class was being taught by a training instructor and it made me want to train for it.  She didn't pile on the weights.  She did what she could and she did it well.  And the yoga class was a long time coming.  As you all know my yoga class out here was cancelled and it really bummed me out.  I was so sore after the hour, but it was a good sore.  My muscles really, really needed to be worked over.  I stretch regularly but doing yoga takes your stretching and core exercises to the next level.
It's IMPORTANT!
Well, now I'm back and ready to get in the groove again, weather permitting I will be out grunting up and down these hills tomorrow and seriously considering training to be a yoga instructor at the gym...yes, I want to train to do that, too.

Back.

I was gone.  Like no duh.

Didn't sew for two plus weeks!  We were in California and it's hard to get your sewing machine through security.  So  I left it.  But, while I was out there I snagged some stuff.  You'll never guess....

Please, be on the look out for some of the most fabulous Punk Monkeys yet!

Sewing: PUnk MonKey Perry

Didn't I just make one of these?

I honestly don't think I'll ever tire from making these guys, because they're SO cute!!

It's Perry.  And he's for a little boy who has not yet seen this earth.  He's still in the tummy baking up nice and good.  He'll be the perfect pal though.

Say hello and goodbye to these two.  They are on their way to their new homes.

Sewing/Running: Just checking in

I'm still sewing.  As a matter of fact, I've got some socks chopped up and ready to be stuffed sitting on my table right now.  But, that's about all.

I'm leaving for California next week.  For two weeks.  No sewing machine there  :(  But, that's ok.  There is plenty of sun, friends and good food.  I'll be back soon enough!

Oh, and running.  Called my gym here and I can commute my membership, so I will be running.  This week has been a little disasterous with my mileage.  VERY low.  Like...really low.  Trying to console myself with the thought that "everyone has bad weeks" but ...mmm, I can't think on that too long.  There will be more updates and photos to follow, stick around.

Sewing: Punk Monkey Pinkerton

He is. SO. cute.

He was originally going to sport the name "Marvin" but I had to change the color of sock on the body and that totally threw me for a loop.  The name just wouldn't stick.  Erg.  So, I skipped through about 10 other "M" names before I found myself staring blankly at him.
Then, the name Pinkerton hit me and I knew that was it.

Please say hi.  Isn't he adorable?  This one is also a special order for my librarian's grandson who happens to wear bow ties all the time.

Did the bow tie, but wanted to add a little more pizazz.
Pockets! (my husband helped me come up with this one)

I really like you, Pinkerton.  I hope Owen does, too.

Running: My new cats

Just kidding.

But no, seriously, let me introduce you to my new shoes.

Until someone can show me why I shouldn't be buying Pumas to run in, I'm addicted.  I love them.  I hear people talking about Brooks and Asics and all those, but I'm a low profile type of girl and I'm not fond of the clunky styles they offer.
I took my new shoes out for a spin today.  Loved them and didn't love them all in the same breath. LOVE how light weight and flexible they are.  Really, any shoe that can do this...

They have such a nice cush; it feels like gel on the inside.  But when I started running, I realized that I was missing a key element.  Support.  My feet wanted to slide to the side as I ran.  The roads have a slant to them and I don't run on even ground often times.  It wasn't too bad.  They made my run fun and I'm eager to see how they treat my feet over the next few months.

Today was a good day.  I skipped Body Pump, boo.  But I just didn't want to go.  Being honest.  That's important, right?  So, instead of running only 2 miles, I ran 4 and that in 30 min.  I really, really ran today.  Hard.  Huffing and puffing up and down these hills and feeling out of shape.  Mentally kicking myself for letting my weekly mileage spiral downward.  Blah.  But my new cats, I tell ya, them wily suckers are going to give me a pep in my step.

Cheers!  Silent cheerleaders, anything new?  Signed up for any races?  Looking for a new challenge?  Do share.
